Colour Psychology

Colours steer emotions and purchase decisions. We select colour palettes that suit your target audience - and continuously optimise based on analytical data.

  • Audience-appropriate colour selection
  • Corporate design alignment
  • Emotional brand impact

Corporate Design & CI

Consistent appearance across all channels: logo, colours, typography and imagery - coherent on website, print and social media.

  • Style guide & design system
  • Logo & brand maintenance
  • Cross-channel consistency

UX & User Flow

Intuitive navigation, clear hierarchies and deliberate asymmetry direct attention to what matters - for low bounce rates and more conversions.

  • Wireframes & prototypes
  • Click-path optimisation
  • Hick's Law in practice

Typography

Headlines, body text and lists form a readable, coherent typeface. Modern fonts (Google Webfonts, Open Sans) ensure clarity on all devices.

  • Font selection
  • Readability & line length
  • Typographic hierarchy

Responsive & Mobile Design

Professional websites work on every device. Mobile-first approach, touch-optimised elements and adapted layouts for smartphone, tablet and desktop.

  • Mobile-first development
  • Touch-optimised elements
  • Cross-device testing

Design Optimisation & Testing

Continuous improvement through split tests, user behaviour analysis and conversion optimisation. Small adjustments often have an enormous impact.

  • A/B tests & split tests
  • Heatmaps & user behaviour
  • Conversion optimisation

Design Psychology

Design, Technology & Strategy - the three pillars of professional web development.

A professional website combines technical excellence with creativity. The web designer takes care not only of the look - but also maintenance, security, SSL, data protection and hosting.

5 design principles for more engagement

  • 1
    Use colour psychology deliberately
Colours convey emotions - blue for trust, red for urgency, green for growth.
  • 2
    Apply symmetry and asymmetry
Deliberate asymmetry draws the eye to important elements and calls-to-action.
  • 3
    Encourage intuitive reactions
Colours, fonts and shapes must work together and authentically represent the company.
  • 4
    Limit choices
Fewer options = faster decisions. Clear navigation lowers the bounce rate.
  • 5
    Build personal connection
Storytelling and user-centred design create trust and encourage return visits.

Common Mistakes

5 design mistakes that cost you customers.

Most SME websites lose potential customers not through bad content - but through avoidable design errors. Here are the five most common, and how to fix them.

1

Too many calls-to-action on a single page

When every section has a different CTA - "call us", "download", "sign up", "request a quote" - visitors experience decision paralysis and choose none. Each page should have one primary action. Supporting CTAs are secondary. This single change typically lifts conversion rates by 15-30 %.

2

Font sizes too small for mobile

Google recommends a minimum of 16 px for body text. Sites built desktop-first often reduce body text to 12-14 px on mobile. This triggers a usability penalty in Google's mobile evaluation - and causes visitors to pinch-to-zoom or simply leave. Mobile-first design starts with readable type at 16-18 px and scales up.

3

Stock photos instead of authentic imagery

B2B buyer research shows visitors spend 10× longer looking at real photos of a business team than generic stock images. Authentic team photos and real project images build trust significantly faster than any headline copy. Generic stock photos actively signal inauthenticity to experienced decision-makers.

4

Colour contrast failing accessibility standards

WCAG 2.1 requires a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text. Light grey on white - a popular trend - routinely fails this. Non-compliant contrast affects around 8 % of male users, reduces Google's accessibility signals, and creates legal risk under German accessibility law (BFSG, effective 2025) for commercial websites.

5

Navigation with more than 7 top-level items

Miller's Law establishes that working memory reliably holds 7 ± 2 items. Navigation menus with 9-12 top-level items overwhelm visitors - they see all options but choose none. A clean primary navigation with 5-7 items and meaningful dropdowns guides visitors to conversion points significantly more effectively than exhaustive flat menus.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does professional web design include?

Professional web design covers visual design (colour scheme, typography, imagery), UX concept (user flow, wireframes, information architecture), responsive implementation (desktop, tablet, smartphone) and performance optimisation. We also create a style guide documenting all design decisions for your team or future developers.

How long does a web design project take?

A Starter project (up to 5 pages) typically takes 2-3 weeks. A Business project with UX concept and up to 15 pages takes 4-6 weeks. Complex redesigns with A/B testing and conversion optimisation are planned individually. We agree on milestones before starting so there are no surprises.

How much does web design cost?

Our Starter package begins at €39/month and covers logo integration, colour scheme and mobile-optimised design for up to 5 pages. The Business package (€199/month) includes a complete corporate design and style guide for up to 15 pages. One-time projects are quoted individually - the design audit (€490) provides a clear starting point.

What is the difference between corporate design and web design?

Corporate design defines your visual identity system: logo, colours, typography, image style and design principles - usable across all channels (print, digital, social). Web design applies these principles to your online presence, adapting them for screens, interactions and user experience. We always develop both in alignment.

Do I need a complete redesign or just optimisation?

A design audit (€490, one-time) answers this question precisely. We analyse your current presence for colour psychology, usability, conversion bottlenecks and mobile performance - and recommend exactly what will have the biggest impact. Often targeted optimisations deliver 80% of the result at 20% of the cost of a full redesign.

How can we help you?

Design optimisation often achieves enormous improvements with minimal effort. In a free 30-minute call we analyse your existing presence and identify concrete opportunities.
